Sharn: Part 1

“What a show!” she says. “The detective was able to catch the criminal with ease!” she exclaims. I wish I could be like that!” she shouts. Why is there so much speaking, exclaiming, and shouting? The thought of that much talking and yelling kind of sounds like my wife and I discussing my behavior toward her mother.

But this story isn’t about me, my wife, or Brenda. Those stories are saved for our group therapy sessions. No today’s story is about our young protagonist Sharn. Young Sharn has just seen her first detective movie, and it was a pretty good one at that. She at that moment decided that she was going to catch criminals with her keen wit. Fast forward 20 years Sharn is now 32 and working for herself at Fiske Private Investigator.

She has just been assigned a small case about a stolen ring. Through her questioning and digging she arrives at the prime suspect Arthur Rudger. A scientist who was last seen with Mrs. Bence the owner of the ring. Sharn needs evidence before she can pin him down as the thief. So she disguises herself in civilian clothing and poses as a distant neighbor. Feigning concern over a township issue she begins a conversation with Arthur.

Arthur to her surprise invites her in to his home(That doesnt usually happen in her line of work). Sharn agrees to come in although not having any deadly weapon to protect her. Now you may be saying how stupid can you be Sharn, never go into a strangers house especially not a prime suspect in a diamond heist. But you didn’t let me finish.

She doesnt have any deadly weapons but always has a non lethal bottle of Bear debilitating grade pepper spray and a handy little taser just in case. Not lethal at all and no permanent damage whatsoever. But it will give her time to escape if need be. So she steps in his house on alert to any danger or clues.

Her eyes immediately gravitate to a large bag filled with diamonds. I think that’s a pretty good clue she whispers to herself. She takes a photo for evidence and goes to leave. Arthur says “Did you find what you’re looking for Sharn?”. Sharns neck tenses up uncomfortably and she reaches for her Pepper spray. But it isn’t there. She reaches in the other pocket but the taser isn’t there either.

Suddenly she feels trapped. Arthur goes on to explain that he is from an underground society “New Wave”. They have been dwelling below the surface of the earth for centuries. There mission is to defend mankind for the time being. “From what?” you might ask. Earth used to be a beautiful place, A well-organized Metropolis. Until an evil entity called “Threshold Allegiance” blew up the city where King Quartz lived.

King Quartz was taking care of Earth from that city. He provided food shelter and protection for the people. Within his city he was able to keep control with his inventions and computerized machines. Detecting the explosives coming toward the city he locked himself away from harm. The damage done to the city was great. However there were four computers taken by his men to different planets.

With all four computers recovered and time to build his machines anew, Dr. Quartz will exit from the safety of his shelter. He will reclaim Earth and completely do away with “Threshold Allegiance”. “What does this have to do with me?” Sharn asks? Arthur: “We need help to keep Earth under control as we wait for King Quartz. We could really use your talents. What do you say?
